Georgia to celebrate 'Earth Hour'

26 March 2010 [14:23] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia will join the "Earth Hour" campaign.
Electricity will be cut off for one hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Metechi Palace on March 27.

Geostar performers will give a concert under lighted candle for hotel guests.

They will be offered a special green cocktail.

The campaign's mottoes are "Turn off the lights for one hour" and "Give peace an hour."

"Earth Hour" organizers in Georgia are the Sheraton Metechi Palace, Radiogorod 101.9 and Geocell.

A press conference will be held in the Sheraton tomorrow at noon in connection with the campaign.

The idea behind "Earth Hour" was born in Sydney in 2007 when over 2 million organizations cut off electricity for an hour.

Today, the event is held in 370 cities in 35 countries worldwide.
