Food security concept will be developed in Armenia in the frames of national security strategy.
A session of inter-departmental group on food security was held on Feb. 8, Armenian National Security Council Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan said.
Upon decision of the Armenian National Security Council and President’s order, the concept should be built up and approved in the first half of 2010.
Attaching significance to food security, Baghdasaryan underlined that the solution to the problems will entail the growth of competitiveness in agriculture.
According to him, concept should increase production in agricultural sector and reduce import of agricultural products.
