Georgian Speaker met with Venice Commission head

Speaker David Bakradze met with Gianni Buquicchio, the head of Venice Commission, currently staying in Tbilisi - Georgia Times correspondent.

After the negotiations the Speaker said that Buquicchio higly estimated Georgian legislation and mentioned it's harmonized with the European standards.

Bakradze reported the Commission on the recent political consultations on amending the Electoral Code and on working out the new Constitution.

"I think that there exists quite an objective matching in our vision, as due to the constitutional reforms the strengthening of the Parliament should be realized. This is just why we began the constitutional reform and this is it what is ominously supported by the Venice Commission," Bakradze said.

Previously Gianni Buquicchio commented the law on rallies and manifestations, amended and restricted after April-June rallies of 2009.
