Turkey's president ratifies law on free trade zones

Turkey's president ratified a law on free trade zones on Thursday.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has ratified Law No. 5946 envisaging amendments to Law on Free Trade Zones and sent it to the prime ministry, a statement from the presidential press office said.

According to the law, the 0.5 percent fee imposed on the goods brought to free trade zones from abroad was reduced to 0.1 percent.

On the other hand, the 0.5 percent fee taken for the goods sent from free trade zones to the Turkish market was increased to 0.9 percent.

The law will come into effect three months following its publication in the official gazette.
