The final meeting with the President of Georgia regarding CEC chairperson candidates will be held on Jan. 10.
As representatives of NGOs report, they discussed only technical issues on Friday and didn’t specify any candidates.
Logistic and procedural issues were discussed, namely – it is necessary candidate for CEC chairperson to be certified official.
Issues to be prepared for the meeting with president were also discussed.
Representative of fund ALPE Merab Basilaia told journalists that his fund will name its candidate.
Apart from the joint candidate of the eleven NGOs, Eka Siradze, acting deputy of CEC chairperson, Levan Tarkhnishvili and Jurist Kakha Soporomadze want to submit application for the post of CEC chairperson.
The Parliament passed new rule of electing CEC chairperson on Dec. 28.
According to the amendments, president will select three candidates for the CEC chairmanship after consultations with NGOs. One of them will be selected by the opposition members in the CEC.
If opposition representatives don’t take decision till Jan. 11, then parliament will elect CEC chairperson.
