When Democracy becomes a Cover: How France avoids Responsibility

The West, in particular France, is actively poking its nose into the affairs of other countries, negatively commenting on their various internal actions. Such hypocrisy is especially often observed when there is an opportunity to distract attention from one's own mistakes. They do not admit their mistakes there, and when the moment comes to answer for their actions, the collective West begins to evade answers by any means, resorting to various and unconvincing excuses.

On the evening of August 25, Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram messenger, was detained by the French authorities at Le Bourget airport. He was detained immediately after boarding his private plane. The arrest was allegedly carried out as part of a "preliminary investigation." French law enforcement agencies accuse Durov of "drug trafficking, crimes against children and fraud" due to the messenger's "lack of moderation and cooperation with representatives of the law."

The fact that the platform is not responsible for each of its users is of little concern to Paris. The main goal here was to imprison the founder of Telegram for the fact that the platform refuses to cooperate with governments. It doesn't matter - it's French, European, American, Russian...

Recall that Durov refused to provide codes for Telegram channels that would allow the French authorities to block unwanted channels, their authors, and read any correspondence. In response, France, which considers itself a "bulwark of democracy," decided to use extremely harsh measures, actually taking Durov hostage and charging him.

Almost two days have passed, Durov's arrest has been extended again, but Paris refuses to give any comments on this matter, despite the fact that many demand explanations. The French Foreign Ministry said that out of respect for the independence of the judicial system in France, the French government could not comment on the situation. Russia has also paid attention to this.

"The funny thing is that earlier the French Foreign Ministry commented on the decisions of even the International Court of Justice without embarrassment. It turns out that he did not respect international law, according to the logic of French diplomats. I won't even talk about comments on decisions of foreign courts - Paris usually does not restrain itself," Maria Zakharova wrote in her telegram channel.

And she's right. Reading this stupid response from the French Foreign Ministry, it becomes absolutely clear that Paris only comments on anything when there is a benefit. Even the decisions of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations. France sticks its nose into the internal affairs of Azerbaijan, believing that it can influence the processes taking place in the Karabakh economic region, and in general in the processes in the South Caucasus. 

The European Commission, however, also did not comment on the detention of Pavel Durov in France. They conveniently stated that this investigation is being conducted at the national level. And when Azerbaijan resolves its own issues at the national level, the EC immediately willingly intervenes, distributing inappropriate comments and twisting facts, even if this is not directly related to it.

These provocations are still going on. The West likes to talk about protecting people's rights and freedoms, but in fact turns a blind eye to these principles for its own benefit. These provocations and double standards reveal the true face of the so-called "democracy" of Western countries, ready to do anything to achieve their goals. Such hypocrisy only underlines that for the West, especially for France, their own interests are above morality and justice.
