Kazakhstan and Russia agreed to cooperate in the field of sea and river transport.

An agreement on the development of ferry communication between the ports on the Caspian Sea and the Irtysh River was reached.

It was decided that the issue will be studied with the Russian colleagues by the end of the first half of 2019.

Also, agreements were reached on the development of cooperation in the field of shipbuilding and ship repair production and the mutual recognition of seafarers' diplomas.

In addition, in the field of railway transport, an agreement was reached to continue joint work aimed at creating a high-speed cargo-passenger railway corridor “Eurasia”.

The parties will also consider the possibility of organizing the round-trip of the Astana-Saint-Petersburg wagon train of the year-round service with one re-linking.

Besides, an agreement was reached on the organization of the passage of vehicles using the TIR carnet through the "Burachki" checkpoint on the Russian-Latvian state border.

In the field of civil aviation, the sides agreed to sign documents on simplified rules of entry, stay and departure for members of the crews of aircraft of the airlines of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, who are foreign citizens of third countries.

All these agreements were reached at the 13th meeting of the transport subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan.

In the structure of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with the countries of the EAEU, more than 90 percent fall for Russia. Since in Russia there is a tendency for import substitution and reorientation to export supplies to Southeast Asia, Kazakhstan can play its own role, corresponding to the scale of the economy, for example, in the supply of food to the Russian market, as well as its transit potential.
