Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan discuss further cooperation

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has held a meeting with the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov who arrived in Kyrgyzstan for a working visit to participate in the International Forum "Altai civilization and related peoples of the Altai language family" in Bishkek on July 20.

During the talks Atambayev warmly welcomed the guest, thanking him for participating in the work of the International Forum.

Minnikhanov, in his turn, mentioned the Kyrgyz leader's visit to Tatarstan, where they held fruitful talks. During the latest visit of Atambayev to Russia, the sides agreed to accelerate the work on the creation of the United Regional Air Defense System.

The head of Tatarstan also expressed gratitude for the invitation to the forum, stressing the significance of this event.

"We all think about preserving the language, culture, history. These issues are very important and relevant today, they deserve our special attention," he said.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tatarstan in the framework of multifaceted Kyrgyz-Russian relations.

The forum which is attended by Presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, MPs and scientists will run for three days.

In 2015, the bilateral trade turnover between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan totaled $42 million.
