Rahimpour: Iran keen on economic relations with neighbors

Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on economic relations with the neighboring states, IRNA news agency reported.

Rahimpour made the remarks in a meeting with governors general, ambassadors and representatives of Iran missioned abroad that trade, industry and transit cooperation will guarantee international security.

'Situation in the region got further complicated and we should make more efforts to maintain international security. We successfully left behind the four-year sanctions, we should make use of the opportunities made available by lifting the sanctions appropriately. '

The deputy foreign minister encouraged the Iranian ambassadors missioned abroad to lobby with the governments of the host countries to lift visa requirement in reciprocity.

He said that more than 150 flights are being conducted every week to carry passengers between Iran and the neighboring states and that it needs to lift the visa requirement with the three neighboring states.

In terms of transit, Iran is in a very good position, said the official, adding that of course, the potentials are not well exploited and recently we held meeting with leaders of India, Afghanistan, Russia and Azerbaijan, as important step for optimal use of the potentials.
