Turkey’s Davutoglu: No country lobbying for WWIII

15 February 2016 [17:40] - TODAY.AZ

Russia is speculating on reports regarding the possibility of the World War III, said Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

“No country is lobbying for the start of the World War III,” Turkish news channel TRT Haber quoted Davutoglu as saying Feb. 15.

Diplomatic relations between Russia and Turkey deteriorated after a Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down by the Turkish Air Force on Nov. 24, 2015. Turkey said the warplane violated its airspace, while Russia denied the claim.

Further speaking about Turkey’s firing on the forces of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Syria as a response to shelling of Turkish lands, Davutoglu said the country’s armed forces will continue strikes on the militants’ positions.

Turkish Minister of National Defense Ismet Yilmaz said Feb. 15 that the country’s armed forces fired upon four regions in northern Syria as a response measure to cross-border threats.
