One of the top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders Brigadier General Hossein Hamedani has been killed in Syria on October 8, IRGC's official website reported.

Hamedani was killed near the city of Aleppo during his mission to provide consultations services to Syrian Islamic front forces against ISIL, the public relations department of the IRGC said in a statement.

Hamedani was appointed as the Deputy Commander of the IRGC in 2005.

He was serving in Syria as both an advisor to the Syrian government during the Syrian Civil War and as overseer for Quds Force operations in support of the Syrian government.

A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander, brigadier general Jabbar Darisawi also has been killed in Syria, IRNA reported on October 17, 2014.

Since the protests which changed to internal war in Syria in spring 2011 have started, several reports were published about death of IRGC members in Syria.

Iran says it provides military consultant for Bashar Asad regime.

Before, IRNA reported in May that brigadier general Abdollah Eskandari, another IRGC commander was killed in Syria.

Before him, Iran's media reported that Brig-Gen Mohammad Jamali-Paqaleh a top commander of a paramilitary arm of the Revolutionary Guard (Qods force) was also killed in Syria.
