13 June 2013 [11:05] - TODAY.AZ
The issue of reconstruction of Gezi Park asked to submit for a referendum in Istanbul, spokesman of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Deputy Head of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Husein Chelik said after meeting between the Prime Minister and members of Gezi Park, Anadolu Agency reported.

"The authorities do not allow protest actions, reaching the unrest. I think that young people should leave Gezi Park after this meeting," Chelik said.

According to him, Turkey held such demonstration, as it is not dictatorship government.

"If Turkey would be a dictatorship, holding of these rallies would be impossible. Even if they (rallies) took place, it would be very different. There are citizens injured in collisions, but also pay attention to the situation created in clashes between police and protesters before G8 summit, passing in London today, " Chelik said.

For more than two weeks, protests have been continuing in various Turkish cities. According to representatives of Turkish authorities, the protests already have an anti-government character.
