Obama appoints new adviser

06 June 2013 [10:15] - TODAY.AZ
Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the United Nations, is to replace Tom Donilon as President Barack Obama's national security advise, he announced in the White House Rose Garden Wednesday, dpa reported.

Obama praised Rice as a "patriot who puts her country first. She is fearless she is tough."

He did not mention her remarks on the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that scuttled her hopes to be secretary of state.

Obama nominated White House advisor Samantha Power to replace Rice at the UN.
