Chinese penicillin triggers 5 death in Iran

22 April 2013 [14:45] - TODAY.AZ
At least 5 people in Iran have died after being treated with Chinese penicillin, head of Iranian Society of experts on internal diseases, doctor Iraj Khosravinia said, Young Journalists' club website reported.

"A 40 year old man with a throat disease was injected with Penicillin, after prescription from his physician," Khosravinia said.

"After the injection, he started having chills, fever, his blood pressure level dropped, and he died in 15 minutes."

Khosravinia further said that the investigation revealed that the patient did not have any other diseases, and the penicillin he was treated with, was imported from China.

"The mortality rate in the country is higher because of the people using Chinese drugs," Khosravinia said.

Iran has been experiencing big problems with imports of medicine and medical drugs into the country because of imposed sanctions.

It has been reported in January that Iranian doctors refuse to use Chinese anaesthetics on the patients, because of their lower quality.

Previously, the anaesthetics were imported into Iran from India.
