Iran has launched a huge crane barge, dubbed the HL5000 to install offshore oil platforms in the Persian Gulf, Pana News Agency reported.
The crane installed a 2,000-ton platform during the 24th phase of the South Pars gas field.
In the near future, the crane barge will start pulling out the offshore platform of the 13th phase of the South Pars gas field was drowned on January 29 while being installed.
In June 2012, Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi ordered the investment of more than $26 billion in development projects in the South Pars gas field for the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 20, 2012.
Last year, around $20 billion was allocated for the purpose.
