Turkish FM sits down with with NATO Chief

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in Rome, the Italian capital.

The meeting was held prior to the Transatlantic Dinner at the Italian Foreign Ministry's formal residence. The Turkish foreign minister was set to participate in a meeting of the Friends of Syria Group.

Turkish diplomatic sources told the Anadolu Agency that Davutoglu and Rasmussen discussed preparations for a planned visit in Turkey by the NATO head as well as latest developments in Syria and NATO's Patriot air-defense mission in Turkey.

Sources said Davutoglu told Rasmussen that international community should display a more effective position in the Syria crisis and Syrian people were in dire need of aid.

Sources also said Davutoglu made a warning that the crisis in Syria could have grave consequences for the region.
