It would be possible to force Russia to lift the embargo when Georgia agreed to its membership to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Georgian Prime Minister-nominee Bidzina Ivanishvili believes.
"You had a real opportunity to do it, when you signed the agreement on Russia's accession to the WTO, but you did not have political will for this," Ivanishvili said at a meeting with the parliamentary minority on Wednesday.
Ivanishvili stressed that the lifting the embargo is in the interests of both countries, and there are mechanisms of that, however, he did not disclose terms.
Earlier leader of the Georgian Dream coalition which won the recent parliamentary elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili proposed candidates for ministers in the new Georgian government.
Ivanishvili intends to become prime minister.
