'Tuesday talks to focus on Iran's uranium enrichment'

19 June 2012 [12:17] - TODAY.AZ
Deputy nuclear negotiator, member of Iran's nuclear delegation in Moscow, Ali Bagheri said that Tuesday talks between Iran and P5+1 group will focus on Islamic Republic's uranium enrichment, Mehr reported.

The negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program started on June 18 in Moscow. The Iranian team of negotiators headed by Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili is representing the Islamic Republic, while the six world powers are led by EU foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton.

Prior to the Moscow meeting, Iran and the 5+1 group held nuclear talks in Istanbul on April 14, and in Baghdad on May 23.

Bagheri said the P5+1 group will show its position regarding Iran's right to uranium enrichment and Iran's proposal as well.

The West suspects Iran is trying to develop atomic bombs, while Iran has repeatedly dismissed the Western allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has every right to pursue nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Regarding the negotiations, Bagheri said the talks are not yet completed, therefore it is too early to state whether the discussions were positive or negative.
