Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has underlined the Islamic Republic’s right to peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Sabah in Kuwait on Sunday.
Iran's top diplomat described the political resolve of the two countries’ officials to expand bilateral ties and cooperation as an important factor for boosting the ‘fraternal’ associations between Iran and Kuwait.
Foreign Minister Salehi also announced Tehran’s readiness to organize a joint economic committee between Iran and Kuwait.
Al-Sabah, for his part, expressed Kuwait’s preparedness to enhance the bilateral ties in political, economic and cultural spheres.
Salehi, heading a political and parliamentary delegation, arrived in Kuwait on Sunday to hold talks with Kuwaiti officials and extend Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah to take part in a next Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has the rotating presidency of the movement for three years.
