Iran criticizes Britain over its human rights

Britain would be better looking at their own human rights related problems before they would speak about those of Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said at the conference in Tehran, Press TV reported live.

Answering the journalist's question about UK's condemnation of Iran's human rights violations, Mehmanparast recalled Britain's own human rights related problems.

"Britain should not interfere in other countries' affairs. Britain must deal with its human rights violations first," Mehmanparast said. "Violence in the streets, protesters, Wall Street movement in London - all this shows that their human rights record is poor and we would recommend they deal with it".

Speaking about the upcoming Iran - IAEA talks, Mehmanparast said that Iran expects all ambiguities to be removed by the next talks between Iran and IAEA.

Last Friday,Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh announced that the new round of nuclear talks between Tehran and the IAEA would be held in Vienna on May 13 and 14.

"Our activities are transparent. We are looking forward to the meeting, and we welcome any move that can help strengthen Iran's cooperation with IAEA," Mehmanparast said.

Touching upon the question of the deployment of F-22 Raptor fighter jets inside the region, Mehmanparast said that foreign forces destabilize the situation in the region.

"All regional countries should deal with problems without the interference of foreign forces. Regional countries should work with each other through co-operation, then they will be able to provide security in the Persian Gulf," Mehmanparast said.

"So far we have not seen them to do so, and any kind of dependance on foreign forces in terms of weapons, equipment and such, only threatens the security in the region. To establish security, foreign forces should exit the region," he added.
