20 April 2012 [11:40] - TODAY.AZ
Plan for peaceful resolution of Syrian crisis proposed by Special Envoy of the United Nations and the League of Arab States, Kofi Annan, was the last chance for President Bashar al-Assad, but he could not use it, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, the newspaper Sabah reported.

"Assad's regime failed to take the last chance given to it by Annan" Davutoglu said.

He also noted that Turkey will continue to monitor the situation in Syria and help resolve the crisis.

Currently there is a truce between the armed wing of the opposition, the free Syrian army and government troops in accordance with the Annan plan. The Western media with reference to local activists and human rights activists reported that the Syrian army has repeatedly violated the ceasefire.

Syria has been covered by anti-government speeches for more than year resulting in violent clashes. According to UN figures, the total number of victims in the country exceeds 9000. In its turn, the Syrian authorities say the number of those killed in clashes were over 2000soldiers and police officers against whom there are well-armed militants.Turkish Prime Minister: Turkey does not believe ceasefire in Syria
