Turkey discovers huge gold fields

About 31 tons of gold reserves were discovered as a result of 57 exploration operations at two fields in the Turkish city of Kayseri, Sabah newspaper said today.

Gold extraction from these fields will be launched by late 2012. Gold production in Turkey in 2011 increased to 25 tons compared to 17 tons in 2010.

Turkey plans to increase gold production to 35 tons in 2012. The annual demand for gold in the country is 150-250 tons.
