French President Nicolas Sarkozy has warned against the repercussions of a military aggression against the Islamic republic of Iran, aimed at halting Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Speaking at a Wednesday dinner party hosted by France’s major Jewish organization, CRIF (Representative Council of France's Jewish Associations) in the French capital city of Paris, also attended by Francois Hollande, his major rival in the country’s presidential election in April, Sarkozy emphasized that the solution to Iran’s nuclear issue “is never military."
"The solution is political, the solution is diplomatic,” the French president argued, highlighting, however, the West’s sanction policies against Iran.
Sarkozy noted that the standoff over Iran’s nuclear program could be resolved as “the irreparable is not carried out” with regard to Tehran’s nuclear case.
