Date of Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders' next meeting announced - UPDATE

Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan, intend to meet in Sochi on March 5, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said on Thursday

"In my post I will do everything to help co-chairmen in the negotiations. The main goal is to achieve long-term peace through bilateral compromise," the ambassador said.

He said that peaceful resolving of the conflict will bring peace and prosperity throughout the region and strengthen the welfare of its peoples.

"The bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and U.S. have broad strategic issues, including security issues, energy issues and internal reforms," the ambassador said.

He said that none of these issues is more important than the Nagorno-Karabakh process.

Bryza is confident that there is no military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The co-chairmen's task is not to use the military way of conflict.

The last meeting between the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia was held in Astrakhan in October 2010.
