Hague hosts bilateral political consultations between Azerbaijan and Netherlands

Bilateral political consultations have been held on February 14-15 in Hague between Azerbaijan and Netherlands.

Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov who said his country was interested in expansion of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation with the Netherlands.

The Dutch officials in turn expressed satisfaction with development of intergovernmental relations between the two countries in various spheres. They once again noted Netherlands supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The consultations were attended by Secretary General of the Dutch foreign ministry, Ed Kronenburg, Chief of the Foreign Ministry`s Department for South East, East Europe and Matra, Caspar Veldkamp and Special Representative for the Eastern Partnership, Onno Hattinga van`t Sant.

The talks focused on the current state of and prospects for political, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Netherlands, settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan`s role to ensure energy security of Europe, situation in the South Caucasus region and other issues of mutual interest.

As part of the visit, Khalafov met Chairman of the Dutch Senate, Rene Van der Linden, members of the Parliament`s foreign relations committee Smayling and Eygeman, Chairperson of Foreign Relations Committee of the Chamber of Representatives, Nebahat Albayrak, member of the Committee Henk Ormel and Deputy Minister of Economy, Agriculture, and Innovation, Simon Smits.

Khalafov also met in Hague Chairman of the International Court of Justice Hisashi Ovada to exchange views on international law-related issues.
