
Azerbaijan-Lithuania relations will be closer and more friendly, speaker of the Speaker of Lithuania`s Seimas Irena Degutiene told a news conference on the results of her Azerbaijan trip.
She noted the Lithuanian delegation discussed with Azerbaijani government officials the cooperation in a variety of fields, in particular, economic relations. She said the business forum held in Baku gathered over 40 Lithuanian and over 100 Azerbaijani businessmen. The next forum is slated to take place in Vilnius.
Degutiene said a number of agreements on information technologies, researches had been signed during the meetings, adding the parties discussed promotion of Azerbaijan`s investments into this field and food industry of Lithuania.
The Speaker pointed out discussions mainly revolved around energy cooperation as Lithuania is interested in participation in energy projects and wishes to ship liquefied gas from Azerbaijan to Lithuania.
According to her, the sides also discussed alternative shipment of Caspian oil to Lithuania via Poland and opening of the SOCAR`s office in her country.
Degutiene underlined there is the need to open the direct Baku-Vilnius-Baku flight in order to develop tourism and cultural ties. To this end, the sides touched on facilitation of visa regime for Azerbaijanis wishing to travel to Lithuania.
