
Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev received a delegation headed by Chairman of the Seimas of Lithuania Irena Degutienė in Baku, spokesman for the ministry Azer Mensimli said.
He said that a high level of relations was marked between the two countries. Representatives of both sides discussed the prospects of cooperation in the energy sector. In particular, the issue of realizing the project of oil pipeline "Odessa-Brody-Plock-Gdansk" was considered.
During the meeting, Natig Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is interested in this project. The project can play an important role in ensuring the energy security of the Baltic countries, including Lithuania.
The International Pipeline Enterprise Sarmatia deals with implementation of the construction project of the oil pipeline Brody-Plock-Gdansk. At present, the work is underway to prepare the feasibility study of the oil pipeline Brody-Plock.
Sarmatia's participants are SOCAR, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation Ltd. (GOGC), Ukrainian Ukrtransnafta, Polish Przedsiebiorstwo Eksploatacji Rurociagow Naftowych Przyjazn SA and Lithuanian AB Klaipedos Nafta with equity participation of 24.75% at the major parties and 1% - in the Lithuanian company.
