President Ilham Aliyev tours country's western regions - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has inaugurated a new settlement for 688 IDP families on Thursday in the country's Goranboy region. The President had conversation with IDP families and posed for photographs.

Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the plan of the settlement. The settlement, covering 20 hectares, has twelve 5-storey buildings, a 1360-seat school, 150-seat kindergarten, music school, administrative building and park. A memorial monument to the Khojaly tragedy victims was erected here.

The Head of State also familiarized himself with the Khojaly secondary School No1. The school has cabinets of informatics, physics and math, chemistry laboratory, library, workshop, canteen and sports hall.

The photo stand was created in the school reflecting the contributions of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to development of education in the country.

Then, the Head of State laid flowers at the memorial monument to the Khojaly tragedy victims. President Ilham Aliyev gave relevant instructions and recommendations.

President Ilham Aliyev has inaugurated the Samukh auxiliary 500 kilowatt-station in the region of Samukh. President of Azerenerji OJSC Etibar Pirverdiyev informed the Head of State that construction of the station started in July, 2008 and was completed 2010.

The Samukh auxiliary 500 kilowatt-station occupies a total area of 30 hectares in Lak village of the region. The Samukh auxiliary station is the second largest in the country. The facility will supply the Aluminum and Steel Plants with electricity in Ganja region. President familiarized himself with the administrative building of the auxiliary station, launched the station in the administrative building and wished successes to builders and power engineering specialists.

President Ilham Aliyev attended an inauguration ceremony of the “NAA Agrotara” LLC fruit drying and processing enterprise on Wednesday.

The Head of State launched the enterprise and watched production process. The company, the first in the CIS area, is capable of drying 12 tons of fruits and vegetables daily.

It will employ 150 workers on permanent and 60 on seasonal basis. The cold-storage warehouse with the capacity of 25 thousand tons was provided with state-of-the-art equipment.

President Ilham Aliyev wished every success to the team of the enterprise.

President Ilham Aliyev opened the new building of the Samukh Local Authorities on Wednesday. Construction of the new two-storey building began in 2009 and was completed in 2010.

A bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev was mounted in the foyer. There is also a photo stand featuring the activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev. The building houses meeting rooms, waiting rooms, offices.

Ilham Aliyev was also informed about the State Flag square created in the neighborhood. The 36-meter flagpole was erected in the center of the square with a total area of 8,700 sq. meters.

President Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the reconstruction works in the religious complex “Imamzade” located in the area of the Ganja State Historical-Cultural Reserve.

The Head of State was presented a sacred Koran. The Head of the State spoke of the state care on sacred places for pilgrimage, holy shrines and religious sanctuaries.

As known, the President of Azerbaijan had issued an Executive Order on repair, reconstruction and renovation of the religious complex “Imamzade” and allotted from the President Reserve Fund AZN 3 million for these works.

The President gave certain instructions on the works carried out at the complex.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Regional Information Center for people with physical disabilities in Ganja city, on February 9.

The aim of the center, which is one of the projects of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on integration of people with physical disabilities to the society, is to teach them the information technologies.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening and familiarized himself with the Center. The Center includes reading room, audio library, audio recording studio and a computer hall.

More than 60 thousand people with physical disabilities from Agstafa, Dashkasan, Gazakh, Gadabay, Goranboy, Samukh, Tovuz, Goygol and Shamkir regions of Azerbaijan will benefit from this Center.

President of Azerbaijan on February 9 familiarized with the construction works done on Yevlakh-Ganja road, a part of Baku-Georgia border highway.

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov informed the Head of the State about the project including also the reconstruction and rebuilding of the 50 km long road. As stated, four bridges, several passages and stations and a bridge over the Kur River were reconstructed.

The President familiarized with the reconstruction works underway at the mausoleum of Nizami Ganjavi, prominent Azeri poet and thinker.

President Ilham Aliyev on February 9 inaugurated the Khan Baghi, a park of culture and rest in Ganja.

The 300 year old Khan Baghi park is one of the oldest parks in Caucasus. The park covering 7 hectares has recently undergone major reconstructions following the instructions of the President Ilham Aliyev.

The park is decorated with trees, decorative bushes, two fountains and a modern lightning system. Also a 350 seat Green Theater was constructed at the park. A monument to the People`s poetess of Azerbaijan Nigar Rafibeyli and Hero of the Soviet Union Israfil Mammadov were also totally renewed.

After visiting a park, President Ilham Aliyev met representatives of Ganja public.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the reconstructed Tovuz-Boyuk Gishlag-Garalar motor highway. The construction of the 53 km-long highway started in November 2009.

Along the road a number of bridges, stops were constructed, while 9 bridges reconstructed. Head of State cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the highway. President Aliyev drove a car on the new highway and praised work done here.

President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Diary Processing Plant in Bozalganli village of Tovuz region.

The President cut the red ribbon symbolizing start of operation and then toured the plant. The construction of the plant was completed in December last year. The plant built by Gilan Holding manufactures and distributes a line of dairy products, including kefir, sour cream and cheese. The Plant has a processing capacity of 20 tons a day to expand in the coming years. Currently the plant employs 25 people.

Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov told the President the complex consists of three buildings and occupied a total area of 5 hectares.

The complex includes swimming pool, canteens, a 5-storey hotel and sports hall.

President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated a park of culture and rest in Tovuz region. The Head of State was informed the construction of the park started in 2009. The park, whose total area is 10.2 hectares, got trees, decorative bushes, two entrance gates, 14 fountains, decorative waterfall and modern lightning system.

A monument to the national leader Heydar Aliyev has been erected in the center of the park. The region`s public gave a saz to President Ilham Aliyev. Then, the President familiarized himself with a project of the 5-star hotel in Tovuz.

Aliyev was informed the construction of the hotel started in 2008 and occupied a total area of 5.2 hectares. The 5-storey hotel will have 72 rooms, swimming pool, sauna, Turkish bath and Sports Health Center. The Head of State gave certain recommendations and instructions.

The Head of State laid flowers at the monument to people`s poet Samad Vurgun.
The President was informed about the reconstruction work in the Poetry House.
It was stressed national leader Heydar Aliyev attached great importance to Samad Vurgun`s creativity.

President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Samad Vurgun in 2005.

President Ilham Aliyev viewed photos reflecting different periods of the poet`s lifetime and activity. The President congratulated employees of the Poetry House and wished them successes.

President Ilham Aliyev opened the new secondary school at Birinji Shikhli village of Gazakh region today. The President cut the red ribbon and toured the school.

A fully equipped school catering for 640 children has 49 rooms, including 27 classrooms and a big gymnasium. One of the unique features of the school is its heating system.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Gazakh-Georgia frontier highway today.

Transport minister Ziya Mammadov informed the Head of State the highway was constructed since August 2010 by Italian Impressa Company.

The main subcontractor of the highway is the Akkord Group of Companies. The road was built as part of “improvement of the Gazakh-Georgia frontier highway” project. The width of the two-way road is 15m. The highway features 3 bridges and 8 bus stops.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road. The Head of State had a conversation with representative of the Impressa Company Ayroldi Morgan.

The Head of State gave his recommendations and instructions after touring the highway.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Sinigkorpu frontier customs station in the region of Gazakh, Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev informed the Head of State that customs service in Azerbaijan develops as much as other fields in the country.

Construction of the new Sinigkorpu customs station, major gateway on the Azerbaijan-Georgia border, was completed in October 2010. The demise around the station was improved with green area expanded. The three-storey administrative building of the station was also constructed here along with auxiliary ones. This well-equipped station is second to none in the South Caucasus.

The Head of State saw the photographs depicting previous and present look of the station. President Ilham Aliyev was told that construction of the new cargo terminal would begin here in the future.

The administrative building houses classrooms and well-equipped operations room.
The Azerbaijani leader also learnt about the Sinigkorpu historical and architectural monument, which is scheduled to be restored in the future.

The Head of State gave his recommendations and instructions after touring the customs checkpoint.
