Delegation of PACE Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan visits Sumgayit

Co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Azerbaijan Pedro Agramunt Font De Mora (Spain), Jozeph Debono Grech (Malta) and Secretary of the Monitoring Committee Agnieshka Nachilio visited Sumgayit, a large industrial city in Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

Mayor of Sumgayit Vagif Aliyev welcomed the guests. He spoke about the history of the city, its large-scale industrial complexes, such as petrochemicals, engineering, and also light, metallurgical and food industries.

Being a relatively young city, Sumgayit has a broad educational, cultural and health protection network with an appropriate infrastructure, the Mayor said.

The parties have discussed a wide range of issues of common interest.
