PACE co-rapporteurs on visit to Baku

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's (PACE) co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan are on visit to Baku, the CoE Baku Office told Trend.

Maltese MP Joseph Debono Grech and Spanish MP Pedro Agramunt will meet with the president, the interior and foreign ministers, as well as the ombudsman and representatives of all political parties, including the opposition.

During the four-day visit, the co-rapporteurs will conduct monitoring of the situation after the November parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan and assess progress made toward the release of political prisoners, Grech told Trend earlier.

Joining the CoE in 2001, Azerbaijan has undertaken a number of obligations, the fulfillment of which is observed by the PACE Monitoring Committee.
