Representative of Azerbaijan attends NATO meeting on energy security

Representative of the Center for Strategic Studies under President of Azerbaijan (SAM) Gulmira Rzayeva attended the "Energy Security Workshop" conducted between 19-20 January 2011 by the NATO Centre of Excellence Defense against Terrorism in Ankara.

In her report, Azerbaijani expert said interests of energy producers and consumers are different. Azerbaijan as a producing country is interested in the access to different gas markets.
Although, Azerbaijan has quite a few opportunities to export gas in various directions, it considers European market as a priority.

President of the BP`s Turkey Office Jan Subhi praised Azerbaijan`s role in ensuring energy security in the region. He noted after implementation of the Shahdeniz-2 project in 2016 significance of Azerbaijan as an energy country will rise even more.

The conference brought together over 80 representatives of NATO, ministries of national security, internal affairs, defense, foreign affairs from NATO member countries, gendarmerie as well as ministry of energy and natural resources of Turkey, World Energy Council, military schools of Turkey, USA, BP, Botas companies and others.
