European Parliament Vice President offers condolence to Azerbaijani people

European Parliament Vice President Laszlo Tokes has addressed a letter to the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belgium related to anniversary of 20 January Tragedy.

Tokes has reminded the forcefully prevention of peaceful independence movement by Soviet Troop in Baku and death and injuring of civil innocent people, on January 19-20, 1990. He also noted that, Soviet Union has used force in Baltic Countries Latvia and Lithuania and many civil persons have been murdered. He mentioned that, these tragedies had been shared as a general past and noted: “We have to prevent such events in the world, our region and neighbourhood”.

He has also written that, he and his compatriots are against soviet totalitarian regime and establish a way to democracy. He has welcomed the determination and courage of Azerbaijani population, which has withstood oppression and struggled for democracy.
