11 January 2011 [18:54] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s State Border Service made statement on some media reports about the Armenian-origin US citizen detained in Norduz checkpoint of Iran.

Press center of the State Border Service told APA that recently Azerbaijani and foreign media sources spread discrepant reports about detention of Khal (Khol, Hal) Talayan or Falayan, 34 or 55, in Norduz checkpoint of Iran or in Julfa town.

“Some reports can create wrong views that woman used Azerbaijani territory to cross Iranian border or she was detained on Azerbaijani-Iranian borders. The State Border Service stated that arrival or departure of the person described in media reports under different names was not registered in Azerbaijan”, said the State Border Service.

US citizen Khal Talayan, who was detained in Iran as suspect in spying, reportedly traveled to Iran without visa and Iranian security forces found spy equipments, including a hidden mini-microphone.
