President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso to visit Azerbaijan in 2 days

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso changed program of his visit to Azerbaijan. Spokesperson for the President of the European Commission Michael Karnitschnig told APA that Jose Manuel Barroso will start his visit to the region from Azerbaijan. He will arrive in the country on January 13.

Barroso will meet with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to discuss wide range of issues related to the Azerbaijan-EU relations, including energy. A number of documents are expected to be signed during the visit. Michael Karnitschnig didn’t give details about the documents and said talks about the documents are still being continued.

Barroso will meet with Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh on January 14. Then he will deliver a lecture about the Azerbaijan-EU relations at one of the Azerbaijani universities. The president of the European Commission will leave Azerbaijan for Turkmenistan on January 14. According to the preliminary program, Barroso scheduled first to visit Turkmenistan and then Azerbaijan.
