"Armenian genocide" resolution to keep away from U.S. Congress agenda for two years

06 January 2011 [17:35] - TODAY.AZ
The new U.S. Congress is unlikely to bring "Armenian genocide" resolution into the agenda over the next two years, said Congressman from North Carolina Virginia Fox, one of the persons close to new Speaker of the Congress John Boehner.

She stated that resolution on "Armenian genocide" was never put to the agenda of the legislature during the Republican majority in Congress in 2005-2006.

"One of the reasons why the Armenian lobby pressed the former Congress is that it knew Republicans will not include this issue into the agenda of the Congress," said Fox.

"I can confidently say that neither new Speaker John Boehner nor the new head of the Committee for Foreign Relations Irene Ros Laitinen will allow this issue to be considered," Fox added.
