Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense Industry plans several projects on technical modernization of Armed Forces

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry plans to assume several projects on technical modernization of the Armed Forces.

One of the biggest projects that will be realized soon is the establishment of new combat equipment on the chassis of written-off T-55 tanks of the Armed Forces. Baku Instrument-making Plant of the Ministry of Defense Industry is modernizing ZTR combat vehicles with the participation of the Turkish companies.

Azerbaijani specialists worked out new watchtowers and shooting systems of the infantry fighting vehicles, the samples were demonstrated to the Head of State at the opening of the plant of Scientific-Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense Industry last year.

Minister of Defense Industry Yaver Jamalov also told APA that the projects on modernization were being implemented by the ministry.

“Measures are being taken to improve the Soviet-era armored vehicles in line with the modern standards,” he said.
