Azeri MP to participate in Luxor anti-human trafficking forum

Member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ganira Pashayeva will travel to Egypt to attend an international forum “End human trafficking now: enforcing the UN protocol” to be held in Luxor, Egypt on December 10-12.

The event will mark a milestone in international efforts to combat the crime, ten years after the Palermo Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons and be held In the context of the Human Trafficking Now! campaign, the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement ( SMWIPM) in partnership with the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking.

The forum will focus on key issues relating to human trafficking, identify best practices and positive experiences and carve out a set of challenges to pursue with various partners - governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, business and youth leaders.

The Forum will include the world preview of Not My Life, directed and produced by Academy Award nominee Robert Bilheimer. The screening will take place on 11 December 2010.

It will also showcase photography and painting exhibitions and will culminate in the announcement of the winner of the first-ever Business Leader's Award to fight human trafficking.

It will be attended by world`s influential politicians including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Pashayeva will address the forum.

She will visit the Alexandria library, one of the world`s oldest libraries and hold meetings at the Alexandria University.

Pashayeva is scheduled to attend a number of events in Cairo where she will provide information about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Khojaly Genocide and distribute materials, books and videos featuring the truth on Nagorno-Karabakh.
