Candidate for Georgia's ambassador to Azerbaijan considers maintaining dynamics of relations between countries as his main task

Candidate of Georgia's ambassador to Azerbaijan Teimuraz Sharashenidze considers ensuring "dynamic development" of the Georgian-Azerbaijani relations as his main task. He stated this today at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Relations with Compatriots and the Diaspora.

The Committee meeting considered the candidacies for ambassadors to eight countries. Konstantin Kavtaradze was nominated to the post of ambassador to Sweden. He previously led the diplomatic mission in Poland. Nikoloz Nikolozishvili, who was former ambassador to Slovakia, was nominated to the post of ambassador to Poland. Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Nalbandov was nominated to the post of ambassador to Slovakia. Mamuka Zhgenti will replace Zurab Chiaberashvili in the Council of Europe and Chiaberashvili will be appointed as the ambassador to Switzerland. In addition, Georgia will have new ambassadors to Portugal and Egypt - Goga Gorgiladze and Archil Dzuliashvili.

"Georgian-Azerbaijani relations are characterized by dynamism, which is an achievement of the two leaders, and my goal is to support this dynamic of relations, the more so because our countries have many common interests," Sharashenidze told Trend.

According to him, it refers to both bilateral and multilateral relations. "This is the political aspects of our cooperation, as well as economic interests and cooperation within the GUAM," Sharashenidze said, noting that "he will make all efforts to develop these relations".

"Georgia has no ambassador to Azerbaijan more than a year, and therefore, in case of approval, I will get on the work as soon as possible," he said.

Candidate of Georgia's ambassador to Azerbaijan Teimuraz Sharashenidze previously served as Consul General to Turkey. The Georgian Parliament will approve ambassadors on Friday at the session.
