Romanian Embassy in Baku marks country's national holiday

On December 1, the Embassy of Romania in Azerbaijan organized an official reception to mark the country's national holiday, Great Union Day.
Opening the event, Ambassador Nicolae Ureke briefed the participants on the history of the holiday.

Touching upon relations between Romania and Azerbaijan, the diplomat said strategic bilateral cooperation develops rapidly. He also underlined the role of the two countries` presidents in boosting bilateral ties.

The ambassador expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would further develop.

Agriculture Minister of Azerbaijan Ismat Abasov congratulated the Romanian people on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.

The Minister noted Romania was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan`s independence. He said visits of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to Romania played great role in expansion of relations between the two countries.

On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister praised the fact that official Bucharest always supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

Abasov also expressed assurance that Azerbaijan-Romania relations would continue to boost both on a bilateral basis and within international organizations.

The event was attended by officials, ambassadors and representatives of general public.
