Seoul will discuss the prospects of the Azerbaijani-Korean relations in December. The negotiations will be held during Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov's official visit to Seoul, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea  to Azerbaijan Jiha Lee told Trend.

During the visit, the sides are expected to discuss topical issues of bilateral cooperation in political and economic spheres, as well as within international organizations.

The bilateral diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992, but cooperation has not proceeded on a proper level until 2005. The Azerbaijani-Korean relations began to develop rapidly with the opening of the Korean permanent embassy in Baku in 2006 and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Seoul in 2007.

The Korean government regards Azerbaijan one of thirty key players in the world, with which it carries out continuous cooperation. Among these thirty countries, only two former Soviet republics - Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Lee told Trend earlier.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the volume of trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $190.5 million in January-September 2010.
