Azerbaijan, Poland sign two memorandums of understanding

The two documents were signed between Azerbaijan and Poland. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PA LILZ) within the Polish-Azerbaijani business forum held in Baku. The other memorandum of understanding was signed between the Azerbaijani National Confederation of Entrepreneurs and the Polish Association of Employers.

"Poland has great potential in developing a scientific and technical sphere, in creating free economic zones, health, transport. There is a potential to develop these relations in these areas. The documents signed today only confirm what we on the right way, "Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev said at the signing ceremony.

He said that the relations between Azerbaijan and Poland are developing rapidly. "Today they have reached a new level, despite the financial crisis in the world. Poland was able to overcome the crisis successfully," the minister said.

The countries increase the trade turnover and improve economic relations annually, Aliyev said. The export of Azerbaijani goods to Poland doubled during the first half of 2010.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak said that Poland shows great interest in implementing joint projects with Azerbaijan. At present, the country implements a privatization program. Azerbaijan can also get benefit, Pawlak said.

"As Poland is an EU member, it must have great interest for Azerbaijan in terms of entering the European markets", Polish Deputy Prime Minister said.
