"Azerbaijan's parliamentary elections were held in stable and transparent manner"

18 November 2010 [10:07] - TODAY.AZ
Chief of the Azerbaijani President`s Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev said the recent parliamentary elections in the country were held in a stable and transparent manner.

“However, there were the persons with different positions in the observation missions. For instance, the position of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) a little bit differs from the position of vast majority of European observers. It has a subjective character. These thoughts are biased and sounded under certain instructions.”

He reminded the previous elections and noted that OSCE/ODIHR observers sounded one opinion when they were in Azerbaijan and changed it in 1-2 months and voiced different thoughts.
“And it shows that these thoughts are sounded under certain pressure, instructions and orders. In general, processes in Azerbaijan are going on in an atmosphere of political and economic stability. These elections were the same. The Central Election Commission (CEC) reviews the appeals. I think these issues will find their solution in the coming days.”

Mehdiyev noted: “There may be certain irregularities, and the CEC will review them. But what we do not accept is the claims that there was the deliberate falsification.”
