The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's (PACE) winter session will hear reports on the Azerbaijani parliamentary elections, head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov said.
"The PACE Monitoring Committee will be provided with general
information about the parliamentary elections at today's meeting," he
said. "The report and debates on the elections will be held during the
PACE session in Strasbourg in January."
The PACE Monitoring Committee opened its meeting in Paris. PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Joseph Debono
Grech (Malta) and Pedro Agramunt (Spain) will make a report on their
pre-election visit to Azerbaijan.
Seyidov said the electoral process will be regarded as finished only
after the Central Election Commission (CEC) completes its work and the
Constitutional Court makes a relevant decision.
"It will be possible to address the election results and views on them afterward," he added.
Azerbaijan held the parliamentary elections Nov. 7.The voter turnout
hit about 50.14% (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan,
the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.
The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections. Over 1,000 international observers monitored the elections.
