Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission continues to consider appeals related to parliamentary elections

15 November 2010 [09:34] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) has considered on yesterday's meeting 17 appeals in line with the parliamentary elections.
Five appeals have been returned to applicants as their requests were unclear. Three of them have been returned to the applicants because the term of the appeal specified by law expired. One of the appeals has been sent to the relevant district election commission for study.

It was decided to extend the term of consideration of other appeals. The meeting has considered also the current issues. According to the CEC's Elections Information Center the voter turnout hit about 50.14% (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan.

The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held on November 2005.
