Azerbaijan, France discuss cooperation prospects

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Taxes Minister Sahib Alakbarov visited Paris to enhance cooperation with the French State Finance General Directorate and exchange experience in the tax area, the ministry's 'Vergiler' (Taxes) newspaper reported.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation familiarized with the tax laws of France, as well as innovations in this area, registration of taxpayers and VAT calculations and payments.

During the meeting with Director of the State Directorates' Local Network and Financial Resources Management Department Philippe Ramball, the delegation discussed prospects of cooperation between the tax administrations of the two countries and stressed the need to expand these relationships.

The Azerbaijani delegation also got acquainted with the projects of the Paris training center, training policies, systems of employing and developing the professional skills, and methods of preparation of training programs.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France amounted to $1.063 billion in January-July 2010, making France one of the leading trade partners.
