Azerbaijan's Chief Electoral Officer meets PACE observation mission

On October 19, Chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov met with a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe led by Paul Wille who will carry out a pre-electoral mission of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.

Wille stressed the role of the Central Election Commission during the elections.

Panahov informed the PACE delegation about the pre-electoral situation in the country, and the progress achieved to ensure electoral rights of citizens. The chairman stressed “the committee has approved all applications for observation in order to ensure transparency during the elections”.

He added “all conditions have also been created for journalists to observe the elections”.
Tens of thousand observers will be monitoring elections.

Panahov noted CEC has provided every condition for voting of IDPs driven from their homes by the Armenian aggression.
