Azerbaijani official: Socintern not to remain indifferent to fact of Armenian occupation

The Organization "Socialist International" will not remain indifferent to the fact of the Armenian occupation, Vugar Aliyev, head of sector of Social and Political Issues Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration said.

The Socintern, which carries out a very important mission, will not remain indifferent to the fact of occupation and deportation of millions of peoples, and will contribute to a just settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under international law" Aliyev said today at a regional conference of the Socialist International in the CIS, the Caucasus and the Caspian Basin in Baku.

According to Aliyev, 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories are under occupation for 20 years. Over one million Azerbaijani citizens have become refugees and internally displaced persons, he added. The fact of the occupation is reflected in a number of decisions and resolutions adopted by international organizations.

The Socintern Secretary General Louis Ayala thanked the Azerbaijani Government for creating the conditions to hold a conference in Baku.
