Armenian soldier detained in Azerbaijan commits suicide

Defense Ministry and Military Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan issued joint statement about the suicide of Armenian soldier Manvel Mamikonovich Saribekyan, who was detained in the north-western frontline on September 11 with his reconnaissance equipments during prevention of Armenian diversion group on September 11.

Press service of the Defense Ministry told APA that Manvel Saribekyan committed suicide on the night from October 4 to 5. The body and site was examined in the presence of the Baku Military Prosecutor’s Office staff members, medical-forensic experts and case witnesses. Investigators identified that Saribekyan hanged himself knotting his shirt with bed sheet.

The investigators found a strangulation furrow on his neck during the examination of body in the presence of the criminal law expert, medical-forensic expert and case witnesses. According to the preliminary expert opinions there were no signs of violence or injuries on his body. The investigation is going on and relevant decision will be made after its completion.
