The head of the Azerbaijani Community in Nagorno-Karabakh, Bayram Safarov, supports the appointment of a U.N. special representative on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"The presence of a special envoy, regardless of which organization he represents, will have a positive impact on accelerating the resolution of the conflict," Safarov told Trend. "But whoever this envoy is, he has to be just. There must be a fair solution for the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani territories, so that we can return to our native land."
Former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga suggested that the U.N. appoint a special representative for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during her recent trip to Baku.
It is time to resolve the conflict, as it creates many problems in the region, she said.
