Jordanian governmental delegation to visit Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani and Jordanian governments will consider the prospects for economic cooperation. The negotiations will be held during the second session of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, to be held in Baku in December, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Elman Arasli told Trend today.

A governmental delegation, headed by Minister of Industry and Trade of Jordan Amir Al-Hadidi will visit Baku to participate in Baku's meetings, the ambassador said. The meeting will focus on promising areas of bilateral cooperation. The protocol will be signed as a result of the meeting.

Azerbaijan and Jordan established a solid legal basis for a short period of time. About thirty-five intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, covering a wide range of issues of cooperation in various fields have been concluded since 2006.

The first meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission was successfully held in Amman in February 2009. Important issues of further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed and agreed at the first meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission.

"It is pleasant to stress that all these efforts give results. Today, more than ten Jordanian companies, representing mainly food, pharmaceutical and other industries, have already presented their products on the Azerbaijani market. An Azerbaijani company began to actively cooperate with Jordanian partners in import of agricultural products. In general, the level of trade turnover between our countries is still small. But steady growth in the indices has been observed several years. Thus, according to available data, the growth rate of trade turnover reached at least 40 percent last year, " the ambassador told Trend.
